Rachel Greene '06

Mental health specialist & registered dance/movement therapist (R-DMT) at the Center for Autism

Class: 2006

Major: Sociology

What do you love most about what you do?

I love that I get to use my clinical training and creativity every day. Children are naturally in the world of movement and play, so joining them in that world is a logical place to begin any therapy work.

How did Dickinson prepare you for what you do?

The culture of the college embraced the idea of expanding what was possible to create even greater things. I learned a lot about exploring my passions and my interests at Dickinson, which has supported me in traveling a nontraditional path to find work that I love.

Who was your favorite professor?

Ashley Finley, [former assistant professor of sociology] taught an amazing class on social stratification by race, class and gender that rocked my world. It had an impact on many things for me.

What was your favorite activity/organization at Dickinson?

Joining the Dance Theatre Group, I found a space for playful experimentation, creativity and connection with others through movement. Living in the Treehouse, I found an amazing community of like-minded souls trying to make the world a better place.
